Meet our New President!

On October 31st, our beloved founder and president Dr. Max Lange retired after 37 years of service. Click here to read more about his ministry and celebrate all that the Lord has done through him.

Dr. Max will be deeply missed, but we are excited to report that we found a wonderful successor to fill his shoes. On November 1, Bill Nienhuis became Childcare Worldwide’s new president. We can’t wait for you to get to know him! Take a moment now to read this special introduction from Bill:

My name is Bill and I joined Childcare Worldwide’s staff as the next president effective November 1. I’m thrilled by this opportunity to work with you to make a difference for children in need. I believe that God will do great things through us. But here at the beginning of our partnership, I’m sure you have a few questions about who I am. Allow me to take a moment to introduce myself:

It was God's will that I grew up in a Christian home with plenty of extended Christian family members. At 17 years of age, I lost two of my cousins in a boating accident. That experience had a profound effect on me, and through it, God drew me into a deeper relationship with Him, which resulted in a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ. Despite my sinful nature, I find comfort knowing that I have been forgiven and nothing can separate me from the love of Christ Jesus.

I attended Washington State University (Go Cougs!) and graduated in 1988 with a degree in Broadcast Communications. After college, I found my way to Bellingham, Washington where I took a job with Faithlife Corporation, then a fledgling Bible software company. Over 25 years, I grew along with the company, holding various leadership roles and eventually becoming the Vice President of Production Services, managing over 100 software developers and an international team of contractors.

Forming relationships with people has been among my most treasured moments of my work at Faithlife. I got to meet so many godly men and women who serve selflessly to further kingdom work. I really enjoyed partnering with these individuals, and more importantly, building lifelong friendships with them.

But God had more in store for me! My first exposure to international development came in 2011 when I visited Belém, Brazil. Through a partnership with the Bible Society of Brazil, I boarded their medical boat and traveled up the Amazon River. Small boats carrying mothers with their children met us, and while we ministered to the kids, the moms received medical and dental treatment. I was struck by the joy in the faces of the children. They were so happy to see us and they loved singing songs praising our Lord Jesus Christ. That experience changed me and set me on a path to seek out an opportunity to serve in full-time ministry.

Later, when I was invited to join Childcare Worldwide’s Board of Directors, I happily accepted. I was instantly struck by the impact of Childcare’s work. I felt an instant connection with the mission and knew that God had put me in a place where I could serve. And when the opportunity came to serve in a much bigger capacity, I felt a calling I couldn’t ignore. After much prayer and many conversations with Dr. Max, other Board members, and, of course, my wife, I decided to become a candidate for the President position.

When the Board offered me this position, I was humbled and grateful to assume the role. The Lord's work through Dr. Max and Marlies Lange has been significant, and it is a privilege to carry on their legacy. I am confident that God has great plans for the ministry of Childcare Worldwide. I can't wait to see what He does!

As a leader I'm approachable and I'm a good listener. I get personal satisfaction from leading individuals to accomplish great things. I love identifying and removing obstacles for people. With a clear path, they can do awesome work. I look forward to bringing those skills to Childcare Worldwide.

In addition, I've been at the center of the technology revolution of the past 25 years. I look forward to incorporating good technology solutions into the future work of Childcare Worldwide.

And I have big plans for the coming months. I am excited to visit program sites in 2019, and form relationships with staff and volunteers both locally and at our offices around the world. I hope to visit at least 100 U.S. churches to promote the work of Childcare Worldwide.

Most importantly, I look forward to getting to know YOU. Childcare’s donors and supporters make this all possible, and I’m excited to partner with you to continue reaching children in need.

In addition to a wonderful career at Faithlife and now here at Childcare Worldwide, the Lord has also blessed me with a wonderful family. I've been married for 27 years to my beautiful wife, Melissa. She is a deeply committed Christian and loves to study the Bible. In fact, it's common for Melissa to put 10 to 15 hours per week into Bible study! We have four grown children (two of them are married), one granddaughter, and a loving black lab named Molly. We have lived in Lynden, Washington since 2003.

So, that’s me! It truly is an honor to step into this role and work with you to make a difference for children in need.

In Christ,
