As the world reacts in real-time to the news of the Coronavirus, Childcare Worldwide is proactively responding to the effects the pandemic is having on our ministry. We care deeply for each child in our program, and we know that you are wondering about what we are doing to ensure their safety during this unprecedented situation.

Staff in our worldwide locations are instructing children to practice good hygiene, and we have made sure that our Life Center locations have plenty of hand sanitizer, soap and paper towels available.

We are using this time to ensure the spiritual needs of our children are met. Staff will be praying with and looking after our sponsored children and their families.

In Kenya the government has closed schools. We have suspended regular Life Center meetings there until further notice. A single teacher will be available in each of the 26 Life Centers to assist children who have special circumstances. Throughout the country, our staff will focus on the delivery of basic needs to sponsored children, like food, water, and hygienic products. We will check in with the children often to assess any additional needs.

In Peru, the government has closed all schools and is strongly suggesting social distancing for at least the next 15 days. We have suspended Life Center activities in Lima and will look at possibly reopening them in April.

As of right now, schools remain open in our other ministry locations, and our ministry activity continues. We have suspended all unnecessary meetings and travel. We are monitoring the changing conditions and we will be ready to make additional modifications to our ministry mobilization as warranted.

Your continued support for children is needed now more than ever. Please lift up the children and our staff in your daily prayers. Thank you for your faithfulness during this unique moment. We serve an amazing, loving God. He takes care of all our needs today and we praise him for his continued provision.

MARCH 24, 2020 UPDATE: What a difference a week makes! Since writing this post, most of our ministry programs have been suspended either by government decree or by practical social distancing requirements. Life Centers around the globe have been suspended. Schools have been closed. Many of our worldwide staff members are working from their homes, keeping in touch with our church partners and serving the immediate needs of sponsored children. Our priority right now is keeping sponsored children and staff safe. So far, we have no reports of any them being infected by COVID-19, and we thank the Lord for that. Please continue to pray that our Almighty God will put an end to this pandemic and that during this time of uncertainty, many people will come to know Him personally as their Lord and Savior.

Psalm 63:1-8

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
