What a Year! September 10, 2019

Every year in September, Childcare Worldwide does some soul searching. This is when we set up our new budget for the coming fiscal year, and take a look back at last year’s plans to see how we did. Every year, we are amazed by all the things God accomplished, and the generous donors like you who faithfully support us every step of the way! This year, we are celebrating: (more…)

Finding Hope in Haiti July 8, 2019

In Haiti, many children can’t go to school at all, let alone trade school. But Babette is an exception! At 20 years old, Babette has big dreams. So often, the narrative we hear about Haiti is full of despair; violence, poverty, and natural disasters fill the story. But not when you talk to Babette! Babette is full of hope for her future – and her country’s future – all because of one simple difference: she was sponsored. Her picture was on the table at a Ugandan Kids Choir event, (more…)

Sponsorship: Fast Track to a Bright Future May 20, 2019

Livingstone’s story is anything but ordinary. He’s endured a lot of heartbreak, but he didn’t let that keep him down for long. When he was just 9 years old, Livingstone’s parents both got sick and passed away. (more…)

Hungry, embarrassed, exhausted, late April 10, 2019

Nerious is a lot like most 12-year-old girls you’ve met. She is full of life. She’s trying to figure out who she is, and what her place in the world is. She can be really shy, and easily embarrassed. Nerious loves a good story – her favorite subject is English. And she wants to be a doctor when she grows up. But Nerious lives in Kenya and her family is poor. That means her life is so much harder than most 12-year-olds’. You see, Nerious’ dad died (more…)

Field Notes from Uganda March 4, 2019

Bill returned from his first visit to Africa last week, and is heading to India shortly. But before the next trip we wanted to share some highlights from his time in Uganda! I’m in Uganda! Uganda is really growing on me! It’s so much different than Kenya. It’s really green everywhere, with leafy trees and dense jungle. The country really is beautiful, and its people are very welcoming. I packed a lot into my time in Uganda. First, we visited St. Luke’s Life Center in Entebbe. (more…)

Faith Like a Child January 4, 2019

Salvador’s faith is one of the strongest you’ll ever see. But it’s even more amazing when you realize he is just six years old. Salvador lives with his mother and sister in Mexico. His father, as Salvador puts it, “he is a bad man.” He does stop by to see them every once in a while, but he doesn’t do anything to help the family. Making ends meet, and taking care of the kids falls solely on his mother’s shoulders. Salvador and his mother Maria. (more…)

Adventures in American Food October 5, 2018

As they travel around the United States, trying new American food is one of the Ugandan Kids Choir’s biggest adventures. It can sometimes be a challenge to help them balance trying new things and providing them food they like. But usually it’s just pure fun to watch them experiment! (more…)

My best subject is… September 7, 2018

For many kids in the U.S. it’s back-to-school time! But the Ugandan Kids Choir has been making school a priority the whole time they’ve been on tour. So, instead of cute back-to-school pictures, I give you an adorable school favorites video! In Uganda, they use the word “best” to mean favorite, and the choir kids want to share with you their “best” subjects! https://youtu.be/KJBbZ8Spoww   (more…)

The Special Effects of Sponsorship August 31, 2018

“How do they do that!?” Anytime Fluk gets a chance to watch a movie, he is curious. Like many 18 year old boys, he loves Marvel movies – his favorite is Spiderman! Fluk’s fascinated by the special effects, so it’s no surprise that it’s his life-long dream to become a video graphics expert. What is surprising is the road he took to get there. (more…)
