Boda Boda Emergency January 24, 2019

Sitting on the back of a “boda boda” (a motorcycle taxi), Joanitah thought this was a day like any other. Joanitah is a high school student who lives in Uganda. After a mid-year break at home with her aunt, she was looking forward to getting back to her boarding school and seeing all her friends. She was also looking forward to starting classes again, and everything she’d learn in the coming months. She’d traveled this road many times before, often on the back of a motorcycle. (more…)

Fighting Worms November 14, 2017

A few weeks ago, little Vaishnavi was sitting in her Life Center class thinking about how much her stomach hurt. You see, Vaishnavi had stomach worms. These nasty parasites were attacking her intestine, causing pain, nausea and diarrhea. Worse, Vaishnavi had been infected for so long that her body was getting weaker and weaker. Elizabeth, at her home in Kenya How many times have you been to the dentist? From the time our first tooth broke through, most have us have had our teeth incredibly well taken care of. We have dental insurance. We get our reminder post card in the mail every six months, and our dental hygienists find any problems before they even start to hurt us. We take our great teeth for granted. But not everyone is so lucky. (more…)
